The Orange County Community Foundation is hoping to infuse at least $500,000 into local non-profits hit hard by economic turmoil as part of the group's month-long "ReachOut OC" drive.

The Irvine-based foundation is promising to match every dollar contributed to the "ReachOut OC" drive, up to $250,000, until April 30.

The community challenge will help those in need of food, shelter, job and medical care, foundation leaders say. The drive comes on the heels of last years "See the Need, Seed the Change" drive, during which the foundation raised $832,500 in grant funds for nearly three-dozen local non-profits.
